South Asia LPG Company Pvt. Ltd. (SALPG pronounced 'essayLPG')
is a 50:50 Joint Venture (JV) between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation
Limited (HPCL), a navratna public sector enterprise and Total
Gas & Power India (TGPI), a wholly owned subsidiary of TOTAL,
France, one of the largest oil & gas companies in the world.
SALPG commissioned a 60,000 MT capacity underground rock mined
LPG storage Cavern during January 2008. Both the promoters are
Fortune Global 500 Companies.
SALPG which was incorporated on November 16, 1999, to develop,
own and operate a 60,000 MT underground cavern storage facility
at Visakhapatnam. The development of the project has commenced
in November 2003 and completed in December 2007.
SALPG Cavern is the first of its kind in India
and also in South and South East Asia. The Cavern is the largest
single point LPG Storage in India. SALPG Cavern is the first of

located on east coast of India at the Port city of Visakhapatnam
which is mid way between Chennai and Kolkata and is ideally located
for storage and movement of LPG to the neighboring countries on
the eastern side of India. Visakhapatnam is the nodal point in
the State of Andhra Pradesh and adjoining regions for import and
inland distribution of LPG. The bottom most point is 196 M below
MSL and the facility ranks among the deepest Caverns in the World.
The Company
was inaugurated for commercial operations on 14th January 2008.
The Company is managed by a Board having three Directors each
from HPCL and TGPI.
